Our Motto: High Quality Education for All
The National Education Foundation (NEF) is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization, headquartered in metropolitan Washington, D.C. Founded in 1989, after consultations with national leaders including former President Bill Clinton and Intel founder Dr. Gordon Moore, NEF is the world’s leading nonprofit organization bridging the employment, digital and academic divides by providing high quality affordable 21st Century online education to millions of students and jobseekers in many countries including the U.S., India, Egypt, Jordan and Mauritius. NEF offers 5,500 high quality K-99 online courses and mentoring using state of the art Learning Management System (LMS) and an interactive video platform.
NEF fulfills its mission through the following projects:
CyberLearning Academy (K-12): provides 21st century skills for disadvantaged students in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math), reading, business, management, and test prep to bridge the academic and digital divides. The goal is to set up a STEM+ CyberLearning Academy in most disadvantaged schools in the U.S. by 2020.
NEF University Workforce training: provides workforce training solutions to close the skills gap. The immediate goal is to train one million U.S. jobseekers.
NEF International training: provides academic, digital, and workforce training to disadvantaged students and adults in many countries including India, Egypt, Jordan and Mauritius (training the entire population in digital literacy and IT). NEF believes that education, training, and job placement is the most effective way to combat global terrorism. To this extent, NEF launched the Million Indians IT Education (MIITE) project in India in 2011 in partnership with IGNOU, the world’s largest Open University with 4 million students.
