NEF’s Invitation to the National QZAB STEM+ Academy of the Year Award Ceremony

Dear Superintendent,

Please read the message below I sent to all 50 state QZAB directors including you. I would personally like to invite you to the Award ceremony at Lehighton School District, PA on May 24, 2016, so that you can see for yourself a successful QZAB STEM+ academy by the National Education Foundation (NEF), the winner of the prestigious World Economic Forum’s Global STEM Leadership Award for 2016, and the State University of New York (SUNY), the largest US university. Please let us know if you can attend. RSVP Marshall Hughes, mhughes@nefuniversity.org or 845-705-0576. You will get to meet some of the current and future QZAB district supts. and QZAB academy directors among others!

  1. Lehighton students advanced one grade level in math and reading in 25 and 26 learning hours respectively! Lehighton students and teachers, who are aware of my book (Happy Executive: A Systems Approach to Happiness Nurturing Mind, Body and Soul at www.happyexecutive.org/bookaccessus), have challenged me to a fitness contest – anyone, who beats this soon-to-be 75-year old, gets cash rewards and certificates from NEF and SUNY! You can join in if you like! It will be a lot of fun to inspire our youth through action!

Subject: RE: Invitation to the National QZAB Academy of the Year Award Ceremony

Dear State QZAB Director,

National Education Foundation (NEF), the winner of the prestigious World Economic Forum’s Global STEM Leadership Award for 2016, and the State University of New York (SUNY), the largest US university, would like to invite you to the 2016 National QZAB STEM Academy Award ($10,000 plus plaques) ceremony on 5/24/16 at the Lehighton Area School District, PA. In addition, Merit Cash Awards will be given to Canton (NY), Sidney (NE), Martins Ferry (OH), Steubenville (OH), and Warren County (PA).

Lehighton will be honored for the most successful implementation of the QZAB STEM+ Academy Total Systems Solution program— the average student among the 1,369 QZAB Academy participants advanced one grade level in math and reading in 25 and 26 learning hours respectively–a remarkable achievement indeed for a first full year academy!

The invitees include the Governor of PA, Education Secretary of PA, PA QZAB officials, PA legislators and US representatives. The Award ceremony will be from 9:15 am to 10:30 am EST, followed by tour of the schools, and lunch at 12 pm. The tour of the QZAB STEM+ Academy schools will include meet, greet and Q&A session with students, teachers and staff. A brainstorming meeting of NEF and SUNY partners, associates and colleagues as well as QZAB and school district officials nationwide will be conducted following the lunch reception.

The discussion will focus on adding 5 new optional programs next year to our QZAB STEM+ academy, funded totally by NEF: 1) High School national STEM design contest (NEF will provide $1 million design software to every high school, so that students can compete for college scholarships); 2) K-8 national STEM design contest (NEF will provide Minecraft licenses to students, so that they can compete for cash for their college fund); 3) a free professional development academy for teachers; 4) a free training academy for parents; 5) fitness/lifestyle improvement program for students.

We would very much like you and your state superintendent to attend to see how a high-quality holistic QZAB academy can “prepare students better for college and workforce,” as far more than mandated by the QZAB law. As a nation, we need to do everything possible to help increase significantly the percent of STEM graduates from 4% globally to maintain our global leadership! If your travel funds are limited, we will be glad to assist you.

Travel Information: The closest International airport is Philadelphia, PA.

Please RSVP Tamara Stephens, tstephens@nefuniversity.org or 703-823-9999. Tamara will also assist with hotel accommodations.

Working together, we CAN make a difference (our mission) in the lives of millions of our QZAB-eligible LEA students, teachers and parents! Thank you. Have a great happy day!

  1. We are working with the U.S. Congress to make QZAB permanent, if we can double the deployment of QZAB funds to 80%. With your help, we CAN do that! We will keep you posted on the progress.

Sincerely,

Dr. Appu Kuttan
